On January 15, Romania celebrates National Culture Day. On this occasion, a series of Romanian cultural events are organized in Bucharest and several cities in the country, including performances, conferences and debates.
Also, several museums will have free access to the public on this day. Museums and cultural institutions under the Ministry of Culture organize a series of events on January 15. The program includes conferences with experts from various cultural fields, exhibitions and film screenings or concerts.
National Culture Day was established in 2010 and is celebrated every year on January 15, the birthday of the national poet Mihai Eminescu.
“The Ministry of Culture invites you, starting with January 15, to visit the museums under its jurisdiction, which will celebrate National Culture Day. Activities include shows, concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, guided tours and educational projects, carried out both physically and online, to ensure access to the widest possible audience. On this occasion, access to several museums will be free, and visitors will be able to explore thematic exhibitions dedicated to the Romanian cultural contribution. Also, the work of the national poet Mihai Eminescu, a symbol of cultural identity, will be highlighted through recitals, theater performances and exhibitions. Events dedicated to National Culture Day will include debates and conferences in which experts from various cultural fields will discuss the importance of promoting and preserving cultural heritage. Theater and dance performances, poetry recitals and concerts will bring established artists and young talents to the stage, offering the public a varied palette of artistic experiences”, according to a press release from the Ministry.
