Jewish Coral Temple in Bucharest re-opens after 8 years
After eight years of intense consolidation and restoration works, Coral Temple in Bucharest will be re-inaugurated on Tuesday, December 16.
“On Tuesday starting 6 pm, Coral Temple in Bucharest, 9-11 Sf. Vineri Street, Jewish people celebrate start of Hanuka celebration and it is also then that the most important Judaism religious building in Romania will re-open. Historical architectural monument of the national and international Jewish patrimony, Coral Temple marks 150 years of existence, a time when it has constantly sheltered the prayers of the Jewish community in Bucharest but has also suffered decays caused by nature or enemies,” reads a press release issued by the Jewish Communities Federation in Romania.
The re-inauguration program includes artistic moments performed by actress Maia Morgenstern, sopranos Marina Krilovici, Claudia Caia and Elena Dinca, bass Panait Filip and pianist Adina Cogarceanu.
The musical program dedicated to Hanuka celebration will be performed by Hazamir Choir and Bucharest Klezmer Band, with professor Bogdan Lif?in as conductor.
Local and central authorities, diplomats accredited in Bucharest, Royal House representatives, Jewish community leaders in Romania, as well as representatives of other religions will attend the re-opening ceremony of the famous temple.
