On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary this year of the establishment of the Korea-Romania diplomatic relations, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bucharest will host, in partnership with the “Korea Bojagi Forum”, Designer Young-Im Na, and the National Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti”, the “The Korean Hanbok (Traditional Dress) & Bojagi (Patchwork) Exhibition.” The event will be held at H.H. Stahl Hall / Lena Constante Gallery and Foyer, the National Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti” in Bucharest, from May 26th to June 7th, 2015.hanbok

The traditional Korean national dress (Hanbok) and the traditional Korean folk art of making patchwork wrapping cloths (Bojagi) are among the most representative symbols of the unique living culture of Korea.

It is well accepted that Hanbok is highly valued for its gracious and subtle colors, which have been influenced by both the geography and climate of the Korean peninsula, and handed down throughout the years to the present day.

Bojagi is used to wrap or carry everything from precious ritual objects to everyday clothes and common household goods, and even foodstuffs for both ritual offerings and regular meals. Making Bojagi is part and parcel of the traditional Korean folk art, as the fabric of Bojagi needs to be created by many, elegant threads.

In this regard, the Exhibition is expected to offer a good opportunity to better understand traditional Korean culture and way of life.

Free entrance.
