Literary Death Match, for the first time in Timisoara
The 6th edition of the Timisoara International Literature Festival kicks off tomorrow in the Baroque Hall of the Art Museum and at the National Theatre in Timisoara. The festival lasts until October 28, with over 20 writers from 10 countries attending. Details about the programme and the guests are available at: www.filtm.ro.
The last evening of the festival is booked for the Literary Death Match, giving literature lovers the opportunity to meet writers in a special format.
Designed as “a box match”, the Literary Death Match will see four authors facing on stage; they will read excerpts from their own books and then the jury will evaluate them. After the first round, two contenders will keep on “fighting” in the boxing ring. The host and initiator of the event, Adrian Todd Zuniga, will propose the two a secret test that will give the winner. Of course, awarding the winner is only a pretext to test new formulas through which literature can remain actual for the new generations of readers.
Poets V. Leac, Cosmina Moroșan, Livia Ștefan and Vlad Drăgoi will face one another at the 2017 edition at the National Theatre in Timisoara on October 28, as of 6 p.m.
“I am delighted to present the Literary Death Match in Timisoara. I have been organizing the contest for 11 years in 62 cities worldwide and I am happy the 63rd encounter will be in Timisoara, a joy which is increased by the designation of Timisoara as European Culture Capital in 2021. Our goal from the start was the same: to present literature as an attractive environment. Coming to Timisoara will prove again the power of the words,” said Adrian Todd Zuniga.
