On Tuesday, January 14, at 7:00 PM, the Madrigal – Marin Constantin National Chamber Choir invites the public to the Extraordinary Concert “MADRIGAL – ABOUT CULTURE” at the Aula Magna of the Patriarchate Palace.

Under the baton of Anna Ungureanu, the Madrigal Choir opens its concert season with an event celebrating national culture and Romanian creators. The “MADRIGAL – ABOUT CULTURE” Extraordinary Concert takes the audience on a journey through Romanian creations spanning the 17th to the 20th centuries, presenting a collection of representative works from the national cultural heritage.

Special guests include actors Victoria Cociaș, Claudiu Istodor, and Adrian Titieni.

Attendees are invited to a syncretic show, a journey through Romanian musical creations from the 17th to the 20th centuries, interspersed with remarkable essays by Romanian thinkers and cultural figures, interpreted by the actors Victoria Cociaș, Claudiu Istodor, and Adrian Titieni.

The concert repertoire includes:

  • Old Romanian music, such as pieces from the “Codex Caioni”—a collection by Transylvanian Franciscan monk Ion Căianu, adapted by Constantin Rîpă.
  • Excerpts from the renowned “Byzantine Florilegium” compiled by Marin Constantin.
  • Modern and folk-inspired works by Mihail Jora, Alexandru Pașcanu, Paul Constantinescu, Marin Constantin, Cornelia Tăutu, and Corneliu Cezar.
  • Iconic texts by Titu Maiorescu, Emil Cioran, and Zoe Dumitrescu-Bușulenga.

The event is conceptualized by Emil Pantelimon, with lighting design by Mircea Mitroi and sound direction by Gabriel Scîrlet. Pianist Abel Corban will accompany the performance.

“MADRIGAL – ABOUT CULTURE” also marks the first event in the anniversary program “Marin Constantin 100.” In 2025, the Madrigal Choir celebrates 100 years since the birth of its founder, Marin Constantin (1925–2011), with a series of cultural projects and events throughout the year.

Tickets for the concert are available on the Bilete.ro platform.
