Medieval festival toes the line in Sibiu

“Transylvanian Fortresses” medieval festival toes the scratch on Friday in Sibiu to celebrate the days of the city. Over 100 artists from several countries, knights, princesses, handicraftsmen and minstrels will attend the big event rejoining the traditional parade of medieval costumes, medieval music shows, street animations, tilts, street fights, theatre performances, dance, photo exhibitions, hand-made workshops, conferences, a medieval market and even a fireworks show.
At this year’s edition an impressive 500-sqm medieval camp is set up comprising small plant operations (ironworks, carpentry and stone manufacturing), a Middle Age castle located in the Big Square of the city. The traditional parade is attended by six companies of historical restoration and knight orders: “Crux Alba” from Hungary, Terra Ultrasilvana from Romania, Chigot from Bulgaria, the Anacronist Knights Order from Romania, Paladins of Terra Medies and Arany Griff Rend, both from Romania.
The artists will meet the audience at the Carpenters’ Tower (Cetatii Park).
Ad Hoc medieval music band together with 14yo kid Flavius Hosu, the Next Star winner (who is also the drummer of Phoenix band) will perform a show on Friday, at 21:30.
The festival will end on Sunday with a performance by Lupus Dacus medieval music band and its Orchestra, comprising 31 Romania musicians.The concert will be followed by a Crispus fireworks show.
The entrance is free for all the festival’s events.
