Mexico Cultural Week in Bucharest and Brasov
Mexico Embassy to Romania, “Dimitrie Gusti” Village Museum and the Romanian Peasant Museum are promoting Oaxaca state in our country at the Mexico Cultural Week due on October 22-29. The event will take place at the Village Museum in the Capital but also at “Reduta” Cultural Center in Brasov.
The cultural week will bring Guelaguetza, a famous custom of the Zapotec civilization, in Romania. Bucharest and Brasov audience will be able to enjoy traditional indigenous dances of the eight regions of Oaxaca state, but also from other Mexico areas. “Yuhua” folklore ensemble, conducted by maestro Gabriel Diaz Ramirez is to perform the dancing shows.
“No estaban muertos, andaban de parranda/ They were not dead, but got ready to party” engraving joint exhibition will rejoin works by 15 Mexico famous artists. The display refers to the Day of the Dead celebration of in Mexico, due on November 2.
Writer and expert Ulises Torrentera Gomez will invite visitors to taste and see the making process of the ancient mezcal drink, highly used in Oaxaca tribes’ ceremonies and rituals. Oaxaca-born singer Yaneth Venegas’ s traditional music show will end Mexico Cultural Week.
