Artmark Historical Estate to auction Ion Mihalache memorial house
Artmark Historical Estate, the Artmark division specialized in selling historical and art monuments, announced that the Ministry of Culture has declined its interest to exercise the right of preemption of the state in the case of Ion Mihalache memorial house in Arges. The historical monument was offered to the state, as part of the preemption procedure, for the discounted value of EUR 50,000 and it can be now put for up for auction.
Ion Mihalache memorial house is today the last remembrance artifact of the great Romanian politician. Ion Mihalache sets up the Peasants’ Party in December 1918 and ran it until 1926. The partnership and merger with Iuliu Maniu’s National Romanian Party will propel the new political structure (the National Peasant Party) to ruling. After communists came in power, Mihalache was arrested together with Iuliu Maniu and others and later on, is convicted to life sentence. Communists also seized his house.
As for his memorial house, it is located 20 km north from Topoloveni, Arges, Mihalache’s birthplace, embodying all that Mihalache used to praise: tradition.
