The famous US composer nominated for Oscars, Philip Glass and the Kronos American string quartet are coming to Romania this summer for an unique live show: Dracula-The Music and Film. The preview is due in the Royal Park of Bran Castle on July 2nd, while the premiere is in Bucharest on July 4th.
The Dracula show will bring on the same stage the screening of the re-digitalized cult-film Dracula from 1931 starring Bela Lugosi, the soundtrack especially composedby Philip Glass for this movie in 1998 and performed lived by the composer himself, next to the famous string quartet based in San Francisco, Kronos Quartet.
“We are happy to announce two performances alongside Kronos Quartet, with Dracula – The Music and Film, with a historic preview at Bran Castle (aka Dracula Castle and the inspiration for Bram Stoker) and the premiere in Bucharest, Romania’s capital. Thrilled to perform it #live in #Romania, the birthplace of the #Dracula Myth! More info on www.liveland.ro,” reads the composer’s Facebook post.
“Dracula-The Music and Film” was a sold-out event at Los Angeles Opera, New York and London.
Philip Glass is considered one of the most influential music makers of the late 20th century. His music is also often controversially described as minimal music.
Kronos Quartet has been in existence with a rotating membership of musicians for over forty years. It performs contemporary and new music, with more than 750 works having been written for them.
