Record of Romanian world premieres at TIFF 2021

“In the Name of the Father”, the latest short film directed by Vladimir Dembinski, who also signs the script, will have its national premiere within the 20th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) due in Cluj-Napoca on July 23-August 1.

The film stars Diana Cavallioti, Vlad Ivanov and Alin Florea, with a guest appearance of Dana Dembinski. The short film is a Correct Media production, in co-production with Numa Fim, Avanpost Media, Popski Production and Pintadera Film.

It is the story of Emma, who lives in a remote village in Transylvania, trapped in a life next to her rigid father. Her mother disappeared few years ago and Emma still hopes she will come back at some point. Insisting to find out the truth about her mother’s disappearance, suspicions and distrust are mounting in Emma’s relation with her father, Iacob.

“In the Name of the Father” is screened at TIFF: on July 28 as of 21:45hrs at Iulius Parc Open Air, on July 29, as of 18:00hrs at Dacia Manastiur Cinema and on July 30, as of 13:00hrs at Florin Piersic Cinema.

Another movie, this time a feature film, to have its national premier at TIFF is “No Rest for the Old Lady / După 40 de zile” directed by Andrei Gruzsniczki. It is the film director’s fourth feature film. Distributed by AVVA MMIX Studio, the film had its world premiere at the International Film Festival in Moscow in April this year. The preview in Romania at TIFF is due on August 20.

Starring Mircea Andreescu, Valer Dellakeza, Gabriel Spahiu, Marian Negrescu, Simona Urs, Ștefan Mirea, Valeriu Bâzu and Eugen Titu, the feature film is centered on the friendship between Emil and Titi in a piece of heaven like village, but also on the story of Emil’s dead wife who is coming back to haunt Titi.

TIFF includes in this year’s program an impressive selection of 45 Romanian productions — 32 features and 13 shorts. 13 feature films will have their World Premiere in the festival, mostly directed by newcomers ready to be discovered by the audience, as well as the film industry. The overall selection of the 20th edition comprises more than 170 titles.
