Romania is going to miss out on the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest here in Lisbon on Saturday night. They failed to qualify from Semi Final 2 on Thursday night. They put on a great show but it wasn’t enough to qualify but we must congratulate “The Humans” who did their country proud.
Romania will return to Eurovision 2019 stronger and more determined than ever.
So we now know the 26 countries taking part in the 63rd contest and as usual there were tears along the way for the 17 countries whose Eurovision journey ended at the semi final stage.
We must congratulate Ireland who are back in the final for the first time since 2013, plus the Czech Republic who have only once before qualified for the Grand Final.
Also through to Saturday’s Final are Israel. Singer Netta is one of the favourites to win and hopes to take the contest back to Jerusalem with her song “Toy”.
Some of the other countries Joining them from Semi Final 1 are Estonia, Finland’s Saara Aalto and a very simple ballad from a charming girl from Lithuania.
Cyprus definitely got the biggest cheer in the hall in Semi Final 1 and some people are saying Ellena could bring Cyprus their best result to date.
Thursday’s Semi Final 2 promoted Norway’s Alexander Rybak. He definitely knows “how to write a song” and he hopes Europe does too as he wants to be only the second person in history to win the contest twice.
Denmark’s most friendliest Viking Rasmussen and The Netherlands country rocker Waylon also progressed and Jessica Mauboy kept up Australia’s 100% record at Eurovision, they have never missed a final, they also went through.
