Romanian message “#REZIST” on the red carpet at BAFTA and Berlinale

“#REZIST”, the message of the protesters in Victoriei Square, got to the red carpet of BAFTA awards 2017 and of Berlin International Film Festival.

Romanian director Tudor Giurgiu broadcast live on Facebook the moment when the Romanian actors and filmmakers protested on the red carpet at Berlin Festival on Sunday night.

Romanian film director, actors and producers, among whom there were Tudor Giurgiu, Oana Giurgiu, Ada Solomon, Anca Damian, Daniel Mitulescu and Crina Semciuc staged a live protest at the festival, displaying the message “Romanian Cinema #resist”.

They marched with two big placards “ROMANIAN CINEMA #rezist”, with the support of the festival’s organizers. The Romanian delegation got a good hand from the audience, under the camera flashes.

“Romanian cinema is protesting on the Red Carpet at the Berlinale #rezist #berlinale #protest”, reads the message of the videoclip posted by Tudor Giurgiu on Facebook. The protest was also live on the festival’s official website.

The Romanian actor from Cluj Levente Molnár, nominatd for the BAFTA Awards with „Son of Saul” racing for „best foreign language film”, also went on the red carpet of the festival carrying a white sheet of paper reading „#REZIST”.

Levente Molnár voiced his support for the protests since the their outbreak.

„There is no black or white. There is common sense. There are limits. This goes beyond that. So see you tonight in the square. I would feel the same if these things were done by any other political party,” actor Levente Molnar was posting on Facebook on February 2.
