Romanian feature film “Aferim” directed by Radu Jude was picked out to compete in the official Competition section at Berlin International Film Festival due on February 5-15. “Aferim” is the only Romanian movie chosen in the Berlinale’s official competition, next to famous productions such as “Queen of Desert” directed by Werner Herzog, “Taxi” by Jafar Panahi, “Knight of Cups” by Terrence Malick, or “Eisenstein in Guanajuato” directed by Peter Greenway.
“Aferim” is an historic movie, with its action happening in Tara Romaneasca in the 19th century. The film tells the story of a catchpoll who, together with his son, is looking for a fugitive slave.
