Fault Condition/ Scurtcircuit”, directed by Catalin Saizescu, the first Romanian movie selected in the official competition of the Shanghai International Film Festival, has won the prize for Outstanding Artistic Achievement on Sunday during the festival’s 20th edition.

The organizers have awarded Saizescu’s film for the courage “to reach contemporary delicate dramas and for the ability to combine various perspectives over the same truth”.

Inspired from the tragic fire from Giulesti maternity in August 2010, when several premature newborns have died in the blaze, the film tells the love story of two teenagers, Melania and Emi, caught up in the tragedy’s whirl.

The film is produced by NERV FILM and Cinemagix ID and is to be released in Romania this autumn.
