Scenes of famous Spanish telenovela to be shot at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest

The lower chamber of the Romanian Parliament (the Chamber of Deputies) has Okayed on Monday a Romanian film production company, alongside Telemundo and Diagonal TV Spain, to shoot some scenes of the second series of “The Queen of the South” telenovela at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.

SC GCC Film Global Ltd is making a serial in Romania, “La Reina del Sur/The Queen of the South”, in conjunction with Telemundo and Diagonal TV Spain, in several locations in the Romanian capital and outside Bucharest, such as Snagov Palace, the House of Scientists, the Otopeni 90 Air Base and others.

The scenes will be shot inside the Palace of Parliament on May 12, 2018, in the Hall C6 Gallery and in the Nicolae Balescu Hall. The shootings will actually take three days, for one day is needed install the setting and another day to take the setting out.

La Reina del Sur/The Queen of the South is a Spanish-language telenovela, based on a novel of the same name by Spanish author Arturo Perez-Reverte. The drama tells the storyof Teresa Mendoza (played by Kate del Castillo), a young woman from Mexico who becomes the most powerful drug trafficker in southern Spain. La Reina del Sur was nominated for Novela of the Year, Favorite Lead Actress, and Best Bad Luck Video.

Boasting a USD 10 million budget, it is the second most expensive telenovela ever produced by Telemundo. An English language remake, Queen of the South, premiered in June 2016, starring Alice Braga.
