“Shakespeare Lives” at British Council: Film screenings and public reading

British Council Romania is celebrating William Shakespeare’s work with film screenings, public reading sessions and debates with British poets on Saturday, April 23rd.

Shakespeare Lives” is a global programme comprising events and activities celebrating the work of the most famous playwright in the world, as 400 years since his death are marked this year.

British Council will host several film screenings on Saturday: “Hamlet”, “All Night Long” and “Macbeth”. “Hamlet” starring Maxine Peake will take place in Belfast and Cardiff halls, during 18:00 to 21:30. “All Night Long” (19:00 – 20:30) is due in the Glasgow and Edinburgh halls, which will also host the screenings of “Macbeth” (1945) and “Julius Caesar”.

The British Library will host also on Saturday a public reading and debate with six British poets: Anne Stewart, Jeremy Page, Alwyn Marriage, Katherine Gallagher, Maggie Butt, Peter Phillips. The event is due from 14:00 to 16:00.
