SPOTLIGHT International Festival of Lights, the largest event in Romania dedicated to light and technologies based on light, which includes every year incredible light installations, video-mapping screenings or projects of architectural illumination displayed by local and foreign artists, has reached its fifth edition. The festival, organised by ARCUB (Bucharest City Hall’s cultural center) is running this year during April 18-21.
The 2019 edition is marking two major events of this year: Romania’s presidency of the EU Council and the opening of the Romania-France Season in Bucharest, with both of them reflecting the theme of the 2019 edition: EuropeLights.
The Romania-France Season will run for four months, being marked in Romania by over 400 artistic, cultural, educational and scientific events across schools universities, companies, and other institutions.
To mark the season opening, French director and producer of the Fête des Lumières – Lyon, Jean-François Zurawik will be named art director of Spotlight 2019.
The festival of lights will “march” on the flagship Calea Victoriei/ Victoriei Avenue in Bucharest, comprising interactive installations, video-mapping sessions, which will turn the Romanian Capital into a real City of Lights, where iconic buildings with a sense of history will tell the modern story of the urban space.
