Take your IA and celebrate Midsummer Day in Iasi, Targu Jiu and Hobita!
Authentic RomanIA event gets dressed in celebration clothes in Iasi, Targu Jiu and Hobita (Constantin Brancusi’s birthplace) on June 24, when Midsummer Day and IA Day are marked in Romania. The second edition of the Authentic RomanIA will take place at the Culture Palace in Iasi and in Targu Jiu and Hobita village, at Brancusi’s place, the same as last year. The venues were not accidentally chosen, as Iasi represents the city of the Small Union and Targu Jiu and Hobita are benchmarks related to great sculptor Constantin Brancusi.
The festival aims at promoting the Romanian traditions and handicrafts, the Romanian beautiful destinations and the Romanian people’s inheritance. Last year, 7,000 people dressed in Romanian traditional costumes got together and celebrated the real Authentic RomanIA.
“Authentic RomanIA represents our future. The fate of a nation is written by facts, and if Romanians want to become a nation, its citizens must shake hands and show the world that we are a nation. Last year, we listened to Brancusi’s advice and went to Gorj to rediscover the local people and values. This year, Gorj and Iasi counties are united in a big round dance and will vibrate all in the same key. We wait for the others to join us next year and to celebrate the Romanian IA together and why not, to manage to introduce the Romanian folk costume in the UNESCO patrimony and the Romanian IA to become our country brand,” said the project’s initiator, Cristina Chiriac.
Traditional art handicraftsmen will attend the festival, conducting pottery, sculpting, sewing and wool spinning workshops.
The Authentic RomanIA event is organized by the National Association of Entrepreneurs together with Iasi City Hall, Gorj County Council, Targu Jiu City Hall, Pestisani Local Council and Flori de IE.
Romanian and foreign visitors are expected to bring their ii and spend the Midsummer Day on June 24 like in former times!
