March is not just the month of year dedicated to women but also the Month of Francophony. In order to celebrate it, a poetic francophonic picnic will be held on March 17 in 20 cities all over Romania.

The “#haikunoi2015 poetic picnic” event is due on March 17 between 12.00 and 3 pm when various ambassadors of the francophone states will participate and support the cause. Thus, François Saint-Paul, French Ambassador to Romania, will attend the event held at the Palace of Culture in Ploiesti. Among the ambassadors attending the event there will be also Joanne Lemay, the Ambassador of Canada in Bucharest, who will be present in Craiova, Faouz El Achchabi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Romania, who will be present in Pitesti, and Jean-Hubert Lebet, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, who will participate at the event in Piatra Neamt.

The participants at this first edition of the poetic francophonic picnic will post, starting with 2 pm, a haiku in French on their personal Facebook accounts, using the #haikunoi2015 hashtag.

The aim of the event is to bring together young Romanian Francophones and personalities from the diplomatic, institutional and business world, in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas regarding the French language, Francophony in Romania and to promote multilingualism, informs the French Institute in Bucharest.

In Bucharest, the event will take place at Casa Universitarilor. The persons interested in other events organized with the occasion of the Month of Francophony 2015 can find out more at www.institutfrancais.ro.
