The event is organized by Litera publishing house and Ring daily, with Litera offering over 10,000 books, thus challenging Bucharesters to come and from a huge human chain in the honor of the book.

More precisely, the participants are invited to outflank the Parliament Palace holding an open book in their hands.

The first two editions of this campaign offered a true books show, covering huge areas in the Capital. About 20,000 Bucharest locals took part in these events, receiving books as a gift.

The idea of celebrating this day on April 23 was given by Spain, where the Roses Festival is marked on April 23. However at the same day Saint George is also celebrated and Miguel Cervantes and William Shakespeare are commemorated.

In Romania, April 23 was declared by law “The Day of Librarian in Romania” alongside with the World Book Day.
