The Spanish Film Festival returns to Casa Filipescu-Cesianu, alongside Pablo Picasso outdoor exhibition

The Spanish Embassy in Bucharest and the Bucharest City Museum invite the public to the event 3rd edition of the Spanish Film Festival, a cycle consisting of three Spanish films, representative of the country’s cinematography. The three films have Romanian subtitles and can be watched between 8 and 10 September 2023, starting at 19:45, in the garden or in the attic Casei Filipescu-Cesianu (Calea Victoriei, no. 151), depending on the weather conditions.

Public access will be free, subject to availability.

Films to be screened:

Friday, September 8, 2023, 8 p.m., screening of the film “The Beasts” (2022, Rodrigo Sorogoyen): Vincent and Olga are two French people who settled a long time ago in a village in the Spanish province of Galicia. Here the couple leads a quiet life, taking care of their garden vegetables and rehabilitating abandoned houses, although living with the locals is not so much as peaceful as he would have liked. Their refusal to participate in the implementation of a farm of wind turbines will soon make things worse. (Cinemagia)

Saturday, September 9, 2023, 8:00 p.m., screening of “The Good Boss“(2021, Fernando León de Aranoa): Awaiting the visit of a committee that could award his company a prize of excellence, a factory owner (Javier Bardem) tries to solve in due time as many of his employees’ problems as possible. Sunday, September 10, 2023, 8 p.m., screening of the film “Parallel Mothers“(2021, Pedro Almadovar): Janis (Penélope Cruz) and Ana (Milena Smit), two single women who got pregnant by accident, they meet in the corridor of the hospital where they are going to give birth. Janis, a middle-aged woman, has no regrets and feels fulfilled. Ana, on the other hand, teenager, she is scared and traumatized. The few words that the two women changes them during the waiting hours creates a close bond between them, on which fate will complicate, and their lives will change irreparably.

The event also includes an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the famous artist Pablo Picasso, consisting of a series of 14 photographed poses of the great artist, who will be admired between September 8 and October 20, 2023, at Casa Filipescu-Cesianu (Calea Victoriei no. 151).

Through the photographs of Roberto Otero, Argentinian artist and photographer, who captures in a special manner the maturity and look of Picasso in his home in Notre-Dame-de-Vie, this exhibition invites the viewer to create and develop their own relationship with Picasso.
