Hundreds of cultural and educational events will be organized as part of the International Festival of Education due in Iasi for 10 days. From theater, music, film, opera, concerts, motivational conferences, creation workshops, poetry, most of the events will take place in Copou park, on the Stefan cel Mare pedestrian passage way and at the Palace of Culture.

Thus, the third edition of the International Festival of Education (FIE) takes place from May 22 to 31 in Iasi, but also in Chisinau and Cernauti, partner cities in the European Capital of Culture 2021 competition. As during the previous two editions, FIE 2015 comprises hundreds of events (music, exhibitions, book, film, conferences, opera, theater, education) that will transform Iasi for 10 days in an out-and-out European capital.

Two renowned artists from abroad will attend FIE 2015. Goran Bregovic & Wedding and Funeral Orchestra will perform a concert on May 28 at 20.30 at the Palace of Culture. In the same place and at the same time, but three days later (May 31), former Smokie lead musician Chris Norman will take the stage. The artist will be at Iasi for the first time ever, since in 2008 Smokie performed concerts there without him.

FIE’s official opening will be marked by a parade of the festival’s volunteers on the route Copou – Unirii Square – National Theater (May 22, 16.00). The day after will begin with an exhibition, followed by a flashmob, the “Grigore Vieru” Poetry and Music Festival Gala (Atheneum Tatarasi, 18.00) and the Extraordinary Opera Gala (Palace of Culture, 20.30). On Sunday evening, May 24, in front of the Palace of Culture will take place a hip hop concert with local bands (OBLX and MP13, 19.00) and the symphonic concert “From Classic to Modern” (orchestra and soloists from “George Enescu” University of Arts, 20.30). The artistic moments will end with a show of lasers and lights.

Among other events there are also the  EuroArt Theatre Festival (May 24 to 31), the European Film Festival (May 22 to 24), the “Poetry in Iasi” International Festival (May 25 to 30), the “Grigore Vieru” International Poetry Festival (May 22 to 23) and the Sacred and Medieval Music Festival (May 28 to 31). Theater and music spectacles offered by the “George Enescu” University of Arts, performances by Athenaeum, conferences and events organized by the County School Inspectorate are high on the agenda.

FIE 2015 will be also attended by Romanian artists. Organizers have announced concerts by Marcel Pavel & Ionel Tudor Big Band (May 29, 20.30, Palace of Culture) and Directia 5 (May 30, 20.30, Palace of Culture).

FIE Iasi 2015 will end with the recital of an international rock star. “Living Next Door to Alice”, “I’ll Meet You at Midnight”, “If You Think You Know How to Love Me”, “Oh Caro’l” are just a few of the hits that Smokie’s famous musician Chris Norman will be performing.
