Romanian theatre shines this May with standout productions and beloved actors. Whether it’s Old Love, Take, Ianke and Cadâr, The Queen Mother, Mad About You, or A Stormy Night, audiences are invited to enjoy a complete theatrical experience presented by ProTicket.

Old Love
May 12, 7:00 PM – Timișoara, Capitol Hall
Old Love is a romantic comedy in two acts with touches of personal drama. It tells a feel-good, Hollywood-style story set in a minimalist stage design of white furniture. The plot spans nearly three decades, linking humble office worker Bud Mitchell with Molly Graham, the wife of his boss, through sporadic, humorous encounters that were easily forgotten by her, but deeply meaningful for him. The final step in their story only happens once they are both free—she a widow, he divorced. The cast includes Constantin Cotimanis, Iulia Dumitru, Adrian Păduraru, Paula Chirilă, and Ada Dumitru.

Take, Ianke and Cadâr
May 12, 8:00 PM – Bucharest, TNB “Ion Caramitru” Hall
May 13, 7:00 PM – Arad, Arad Philharmonic
This classic 1932 three-act comedy, revived decades later, features Horațiu Mălăele as Ianke, the Jewish shopkeeper, with Răzvan Vasilescu and Mihai Constantin in the roles of the Turkish Cadâr and Romanian Take. A timeless reflection on tolerance and friendship among cultures.

The Queen Mother
May 12, 8:00 PM – Brașov, “Sică Alexandrescu” Theatre
A mother and son—two characters hiding profound vulnerability beneath a harsh exterior. Two generations, two worlds, one universe filled with love, tenderness, regret, reconciliation, and laughter. Oana Pellea and Marius Manole star in this emotionally rich play exploring family ties, emotional dependence, and manipulation.

Mad About You
May 12, 8:00 PM – Bucharest, Luceafărul Hall
This bittersweet comedy portrays the passionate, dramatic, and tumultuous relationship between legendary French couple Sacha Guitry and Yvonne Printemps. Set against the golden backdrop of 1920s Paris, it explores themes of love, jealousy, betrayal, and life as performance. Starring Maia Morgenstern, Armand Călota, and Isadora Baltateanu/Oana-Maria Dragne.

A Stormy Night
May 13, 8:00 PM – Craiova, National Theatre
On a night full of tension, Ghiță, a tailor, tries to unravel the mystery of his wife Veta’s relationship with Chiriac, his orderly. Joined by the hopelessly romantic Rică Venturiano and Zița, Veta’s sister, the play delivers hilarious twists and timeless satire on appearances and hypocrisy. A guaranteed evening of laughter and charm.
