„Wałęsa” biopic screened in Bucharest

The life of legendary “Solidarity” leader Lech Wałęsa, who contributed to the fall of communism in Poland and CEE, is masterly presented by the Oscar winner, film director Andrzej Wajda in the „Wałęsa” movie, which can be seen at Make a Point association on Thursday, May 19, as of 8 p.m, the Polish Institute in Bucharest informs.

The action starts in 1970 when Lech Wałęsa played by Robert Więckiewicz, one of the best Polish actors, was an ordinary worker. The viewers can watch the path of the electrician from the Building Yard in Gdańsk to become the legendary leader of the “Solidarity” trade union, but also the one who won the Nobel for Peace.

The director is trying to capture the transformation of a simple man focused on his day-to-day life into a charismatic leader. It’s the story of a husband, father and worker who set free the dream of freedom hidden in the hearts of millions of people.

„Wałęsa” biopic addresses to all, but I would like to reach the younger audience in particular. For Lech is a good example to convince youth that they have to take part in our political life by all means,” the renowned Polish director Andrzej Wajda said about his movie, shot in 2013.

The screening is due within “Make a Thursday” series on May 19, at 8 p.m.
