What concerts has January in store for you?

Paul Anka comes back to Bucharest to perform a magic show next to his band on the first month of 2016. The performance is due on January 30 at Sala Palatului. Anka also performed in Bucharest in 2010, but now he promises a special gig, accompanied by his “big band”.

Romanian pan flute musician Gheorghe Zamfir also wants to suprise his fans, by performing for the first time at Hard Rock Cafe on January 13, as of 21:30.

Zamfir is known for playing an expanded version of the traditional Romanian-style pan flute of 20 pipes to 22, 25, 28 and 30 pipes to increase its range, and obtaining as many as eight overtones from each pipe by changing the embouchure. Largely through TV commercials where he was billed as “Zamfir, Master of the pan Flute”, but mostly as soloist in movie soundtracks, Zamfir introduced the folk instrument to a modern audience and revived it from obscurity.

January mostly brings Romanian artists to perform: Virgil Ianţu, Mirabela Dauer, Horia Brenciu, Loredana, as well as famous bands like Taxi, Robin and the Backstabbers, Timpuri Noi and Carla’s Dream.

Besides, a composing rack on ice is to meet Romanian audience on the first month of this year, when Saint Petersburg Ballet on Ice brings “Nutcracker” again in Bucharest. Venue: Sala Palatului on January 17, as of 7 p.m.
