Tuesday, May 3, in the Ion Caramitru Hall of the National Theater “I. L. Caragiale ” from Bucharest, took place the 16th edition of the Gopo Awards Gala, during which the performances of Romanian cinema in recent years were celebrated. Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn is the big winner of the Gopo Trophy for Best Picture. A selection of the most applauded moments from the Gala stage can be watched on Thursday, May 5, from 22:30, on PRO CINEMA.

Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, written and directed by Radu Jude and produced by Ada Solomon (MicroFILM), was named Best Film after the voting process, which was attended by 650 professionals from the local film world. Its protagonist, Katia Pascariu, won the Award for Best Leading Actress, offered by Aqua Carpatica.

Most of the trophies were awarded by Malmkrog, who presented the filmmaker Cristi Puiu with the Best Direction Award, offered by Banca Transilvania. The production was also awarded for Best Picture – Tudor Vladimir Panduru RSC, Best Makeup and Best Hairstyle – Dana Roșeanu, Elena Tudor and Manuela Tudor, Best Costumes, offered by Cellini Oana Păunescu and Best sets – Cristina Paula Ana Barbu.

The award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, offered by Promenada by NEPI Rockcastle, went to Bogdan Farcaș, the Unidentified protagonist (directed by Bogdan George Apetri), a film rewarded with a Gopo trophy and for Best Screenplay, offered by Dacin Sara filmmakers Iulian Postelnicu and Bogdan George Apetri.

Ioana Flora was awarded the Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Otto The Barabarian directed by Ruxandra Ghițescu, and Alexandru Potocean was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Poppy Field (directed by Eugen Jebeleanu), awarded at this edition for Best Debut.

Wild Romania, the film directed by Dan Dinu, which explores the complexity of nature in our country, was nominated for Best Documentary and won two more Gopo trophies in the categories Best Original Music – Alexei Turcan and Best Sound – Dan Stefan Rucăreanu , Ioan Filip and Matei Vasilache.

In the short film categories, the awards were given to the films Love Stories on the Move (Carina Gabriela Dașoveanu), nominated for Best Fiction Short Film, and Same Dream (Vlad Petri), awarded the Gopo Trophy in the category best documentary short film.

In the Best European Film category, the votes of film professionals and film critics went to Another Round (directed by Thomas Vinterberg), distributed by Bad Unicorn, and the Audience Award for Best Boxing Film -office was awarded this year to the feature film Tabăra, directed by Vali Dobrogeanu.

Actress Viorica Voda reveals she was victim of sexual harassment

Another emotional moment was marked by the speech of Viorica Voda, invited on the stage of the Gala with the team of the film Philanthropy, celebrated on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its launch.

The actress confessed to the audience that she was the victim of sexual harassment in the system following the exposure offered by the role with which she debuted on the big screen, Filantropica movie.”I was not prepared for all that the exposure meant and the consequences of the exposure. I’ve been doing psychotherapy for years for sexual harassment in and out of the system,” Viorica Voda stated.

She encouraged the younger generations not to remain silent in such situations. The speech was applauded by the actress Katia Pascariu, who thanked Viorica Voda for the courage to talk about her experiences.
