Senate Speaker Calin Popescu Tariceanu congratulated PM Viorica Dancila for her speech in the European Parliament on Wednesday, stating that if secret protocols had been mentioned in the CVM report, that would have meant to recognise the mechanism’s failure.
“I would like to hail the prime minister’s presence that is honouring Romania. I would like to see other Romanians as well while defending Romania’s image the way Mrs. Viorica Dancila did,” Tariceanu said. He added the premier put the finger on it that Romania is not in the situation to be compared with other countries, liek Poland or Hungary.
„Look at Mr. Timmermans’ statement on the secret protocols. If the CVM admitted the protocols, the abuses in the judiciary, that would me to admit the mechanism’s failure,” the Senate speaker pointed out, adding that the outcome of the Justice minister’s talks with the Venice Commission will be considered in Bucharest.
As expected, speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea, also congratulated Dancila, saying she „defended Romania’s image and stance”.
„Each country’s arguments should be listened, I don’t think sentences should be ruled anymore for there is a better or more aggressive manipulation campaign (…) Let’s not forget the CCR rulings are mandatory, they should taken into account,” Dragnea said.
