1,000 gendarmes, police and fire-fighters mobilized for Steaua Bucharest vs. Manchester City match Tuesday evening

Nearly 1,000 gendarmes, police officers and fire-fighters will ensure the safety measures during the football match between FC Steaua Bucharest and FC Manchester City at 21.45h, Bucharest time.

According to a Ministry of the Interior (MAI) press release, the match will take place on Tuesday on the ‘National Arena’ in Bucharest and is expected to have an attendance of more than 50,000 fans, of which 1,000 are foreigners, fans of the English team.

“More than 750 gendarmes, police officers and fire-fighters will be in action on Tuesday in the sports arena, and another 200 on the traffic routes that converge to the capital,” the release reads.

Besides these preventive actions in Bucharest, measures were adopted in order to increase public order and to increase safety in the Otopeni Airport area and to ensure the traffic flow through the border checkpoints.

MAI reminds the fans that by 18.00h the traffic will be restricted progressively in the ‘National Arena’ area, traffic police agents will ensure alternative routes and the traffic flow.

Drivers can use as road detours: Mihai Bravu – Iancului – Pantelimon Road; Unirii Boulevard – Bessarabia Boulevard – Chisinau Boulevard – Pantelimon Road.
