Andreea Chitu and Cristina Neagu – winners of ‘2015 National Sports Award’
Judoka Andreea Chitu (photo 1), European champion and world vice-champion at the 52-kg category, and handball player Cristina Neagu (photo 2), bronze medallist with the national team, also designed MVP at the World Championship in Denmark, are the winners of the ‘2015 National Sports Award’ – a joint decision of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MTS) reads.
The two athletes will each get prize money of RON 15,000 (about EUR 3,300), the COSR official website informed on Wednesday.
The COSR Executive Committee meeting was also attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Elisabeta Lipa, who is also COSR Vice-President and member of the COSR Executive Committee.
On the short list of nine athletes performers in 2015 there were: Andreea Chitu (judo), Cristina Neagu (handball), Horia Tecau (tennis), Elizabeta Samara (table tennis), Simona Halep (tennis), Ana-Maria Popescu (Branza) (fencing), Marian Dragulescu (gymnastics), Andreea Munteanu (artistic gymnastics), Tiberiu Dolniceanu (fencing).
COSR said the two athletes had been chosen due to their remarkable results.
