Bianca Andreescu, fresh US Open champion, has thanked her Romanian fans for their support.

Born in Canada, but to Romanian parents, Bianca Andreescu has granted an interview to the Romanian TV of NY.

Thank you, to all the people in Romania. Thank you for supporting me, not only here at US Open, but always. Thanks very much,” said Andreea in message delivered in Romanian.

During the press conference after the huge victory against Serena Williams, the 19yo Bianca confessed she had been very nervous before the US Open final.

It is not the first time I had reviewed this match. It is crazy,” said Bianca while starting to cry. She had been asked how she felt when re-watching the final.

Bianca also said she had dreamed of this moment for long and that she was hoping to be at this level, every day of her life.

The fact it came true is incredible”, she added.

In another interview to CNN, Bianca recounted how she had been gearing up to make a career in tennis and to be a champion, namely she would write her name and the prize money for winning the US Open on a mock-up check. The check thus represented a motivation, driving a hope that one day she would win the Grand Slam title.

After I won the Orange Bowl back in 2015, a couple of months later I just felt like I could do really big things in this sport. So, I just grabbed a check and wrote the prize money of that year. But every year I kept increasing it because it kept changing. But I just kept visualizing that moment since that day. Now being the actual champion is just so crazy,” Bianca told CNN.
