Romanian biathlete Eva Tofalvi has been tested positive with Meldonium, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced in a statement posted Tuesday on its website.
Tofalvi (37) was tested out of the competition on March 8 in Oslo. The Miercurea Ciuc born athlete announced that she does not want a counter-valuation in this case, IBU states. The global forum had announced the case since March 30, without revealing the name of the athlete.
The lab report from Oslo regarding the urine sample revealed the presence of Meldonium, which appears since January 1, 2016 on the list of prohibited substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency, being included in the category S4: hormones and metabolic modulators.
The biathlete will be heard on a later date, after the World Anti-Doping Agency will complete the study regarding the period the substance remains in the body.
Eva Tofalvi is provisionally suspended until a final decision is taken by the IBU doping commission.
Tofalvi is the second Romanian athlete tested positive with Meldonium after athlete Mirela Lavric.
