BRD Bucharest Open: Halep, Niculescu through to the second round

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 1st seeded, 5th WTA, qualified on Tuesday evening to the second round of the BRD Bucharest Open, after defeating Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

The match lasted one hour and 42 minutes and proved to be more difficult than expected for Halep.

Monica Niculescu, 5th seeded, defeated compatriot Andreea Mitu 6-2, 6-4 to qualify to the next round.
