Bucharest Gaming Week, the largest gaming event in Romania, starts this weekend

Bucharest Gaming Week is set to captivate from October 7th to 15th, 2023, embracing a hybrid format that combines on-site events at various exciting locations and engaging online transmissions. The heart of the spectacle unfolds at the majestic Palace of Parliament on October 14th and 15th, where the limelight will grace the stage upon Romania’s most celebrated gaming content creators and showcase the latest, breathtaking video game releases of the year.

In the three halls of the Palace of Parliament—Unirii, Take Ionescu, and I.I.C. Brătianu—gamers will have the chance to meet with Romania’s most popular streamers and vloggers. They will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the latest international games and compete in numerous competitions with hundreds of prizes.

Among the content creators announced for Bucharest Gaming Week are IHATEPINK, Theo Zeciu, Bercea, Lectură, Gannicus, Salbaticu’ Sebi, Ovvy, iSilent, Mădălin, Tudor Buțan, Andu, meitii, Luca Luk, Werty, Antonia, Bobospider, karinul, Adrii, IceManLucky, and many others. They will organize demo tournaments in their favorite games alongside their community members and participate in meet & greet sessions, where they’ll share stories and engage with their fans.

The list of games launched this year that gamers will be able to play at the event include Counter-Strike 2, Mortal Kombat 1, Baldur’s Gate III, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and many more. Not to be missed are also the most popular games of the moment like Minecraft, Stumble Guys, League of Legends, Fortnite, and Valorant.

Hundreds of thousands of people will tune in to Bucharest Gaming Week online, while thousands more will physically come to the Palace of Parliament to witness the new game releases, meet their idols, and discover the creative work behind the games. They will learn how to enter this industry and what studies they need to pursue. This year, Romania hosts two major gaming events, with Bucharest Gaming Week following the Esports World Championship in Iași. This demonstrates that gaming is increasingly present in Romania, capturing the attention not only of a large audience but also of the authorities,” stated Tudor Dăescu, co-organizer of Bucharest Gaming Week.

A week filled with gaming excitement

Bucharest Gaming Week kicks off with a series of live streams on October 7-8, where some of the most popular influencers will challenge their communities with missions related to the  currently trending games. Gamers from all over the country are invited to tune in online and watch influencers such as Bercea, Lectură, Gannicus, Sălbaticu’ Sebi, Ovvy, Luca Luk, Antonia, karinul, and Adrii play games like Counter-Strike 2, EA Sports FC 24, Minecraft, and many more.

During October 7-13, 2023, Bucharest Gaming Week presents a plethora of associated events, highlighting the creative power and opportunities provided by the gaming industry. From game development workshops for high school students to cybersecurity-themed conferences, the event showcases the diverse range of possibilities within the world of gaming.

Thus, students from Tudor Vianu and Mihai Viteazul high schools in Bucharest will take part in presentations and workshops held at Amber and Gameloft studios in Bucharest. During these sessions, young individuals will explore the necessary skills to build a career in the video game development industry.

On October 13, during the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference, a roundtable discussion will be held in partnership with Sigurantaonline.ro, DNSC, and the Romanian Police, focusing on the dangers players face in the online space.

Bucharest Gaming Week has partnered with After x Image, Romania’s first visual culture festival, to provide visitors with the opportunity to try some of the most popular video games developed in Romania. Among these is Door Kickers: Task Force North, developed by Killhouse Games, an innovative real-time strategy game that puts you in command of a SWAT team during a tactical intervention. Another popular game is Interrogation, inspired by detective noir movies, built around highly topical subjects such as radicalization and the nature of authority, presenting numerous moral and ethical dilemmas. The After x Image MAIN STAGE event will take place at Mindspace Business District on October 7 and 8.

Last but not least, the gathering spots for the passionate gaming community, such as GeekHub Bucharest, 1UP Gamers Pub, and Nexus Gaming, are preparing a series of activities and contests where attendees can win invitations to the central event at the Palace of Parliament. These include board game tournaments, watch parties, D&D sessions, as well as trivia contests.

The Palace of Parliament, the epicenter of Bucharest Gaming Week 2023

Gaming enthusiasts, cosplay fanatics, esports champions, and beyond—brace yourselves for an epic gathering at the Palace of Parliament on October 14th and 15th. Get ready for two days packed with prizes, unparalleled adventures, and non-stop, high-octane fun!

An explosion of energy and fun awaits, guaranteed to thrill both the young and the young at heart. Those daring enough to step into the arena will face off against the most popular influencers in extraordinary tournaments and exciting contests with fabulous prizes.

The future of gaming unfolds within the Virtual Reality Arena, where visitors will be part of astonishing simulations and live unforgettable moments in deathmatch or team battles in games like Quantum Arena and Cops vs. Robbers. The competitive spirit will reach its peak in the Esports Zone, an epic space with over 40 computers where intense battles will take place in games like Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone. Those who prefer mobile gaming, they can showcase their skills in the Mobile Arena, participating in competitions using popular current games – Stumble Guys, Free Fire, Minecraft, and Clash Royale. Retro game enthusiasts will have the chance to play Street Fighter and other iconic games from the ’80s and ’90s on two arcade cabinets.

The Sim Racing Arena makes a triumphant return to the event, following the excitement generated during its debut last year. The Sim Racing Arena program includes tournaments for amateurs in Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, free-to-play sessions, and the performance of top sim racers in the Digital Romanian Endurance Series final. The virtual championship began in March, mirroring the real-life racing action on tracks in Assetto Corsa. The grand finale at BGW will be held, for the first time ever, on the digital version of the Transilvania Motor Ring circuit, meticulously recreated by Racing League Romania developers through a high-definition laser scan. The grand prize for the champions includes real track driving experiences with the cars used throughout the year in Digital RES: the BMW 325i Cup and Dacia Logan Cup.

The central event, Bucharest Gaming Week, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 14th and 15th, starting at 10:00 AM. Entry to the Palace of Parliament is through Constitution Square.

Minors under the age of 14 will only be allowed entry if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Individuals with disabilities will have unrestricted access based on a medical certificate.
