Romanian vice-champions FCSB were eliminated by Rapid Vienna on Thursday in the play-off of Europa League, although they won the match 2-1.

In the first match, Rapid Vienna won 3-1 and FCSB managed only 201 in the return match on Thursday. Gnohere scored the first goal in the 11th minute and Rusescu made it 2-1 for the hosts late in the first half.

Following a mistake by FCSB goalkeeper Vlad, the visiting team managed to score in the 63rd minute. After this goal, the hosts decreased the pace of attacks and Rapid had even more opportunities to score.

Thus, FCSB fails to qualify to the Europa League groups.

Champions CFR Cluj had an even worse evening on Thursday. Defeated away in the first round of the play-off by F91 Dudelange (Luxembourg) 2-0, the return match in Cluj was also won by the guests 3-2!

Following the aggregate score of 5-2, CFR Cluj leaves the competition, along with FCSB. Romania will have no team qualified to play in European cups this year.
