Europa League: Romanian champions Astra Giurgiu to face Genk in the last 32 round
Astra Giurgiu will face the Belgian team KRC Genk in the last 32 round of Europa League according to the draw on Monday at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland).
Romanian champions, for the first time in this phase of the competition, will play the first match at home on February 16 and the second leg will take place on February 23.
Astra was second in Group E, after 0-4 and 0-0 against AS Roma, 2-1 and 1-1 against Viktoria Plzen and 2-3 and 2-1 against Austria Vienna.
Genk has won Group F after 2-3 and 1-0 against Rapid Vienna, 2-0 and 3-5 against Athletic Bilbao and 3-1 and 2-0 against Sassuolo.
Genk, team coached by Peter Maes, ranked 4 in the last edition of the Belgian championship, and now ranks 10th in the standings with 24 points after 18 legs (one match less) as the match against Waasland-Beveren due last on Sunday has been postponed .
Among the known players of KRC Genk are the Czech defender Jakub Brabec, Greek striker Nikolaos Karelis, Bosnian midfielder Tino-Sven Susic, Belgian midfielder Thomas Buffel (captain) and Jamaican striker Leon Bailey.
