Europa League: Steaua, Astra defeated

Romanian football teams in Europa League have had a poor start on Thursday. Steaua Bucharest was defeated by Osmanlispor 2-0 (0-0) in Ankara in Group L. The goals were scored by Cheikh Diabate (64th min.) – penalty and Aminu Umar (74th min.).

Steaua player Gabriel Enache was sent off at the end of the first half, Steaua played thus the second half in ten men.

On September 29 Steaua will play away against Villareal (Spain).

Romanian champions Astra Giurgiu were defeated by Austria Vienna 3-2 (2-1) at home, in the first leg of Europa League Group E, having an attendance of only 1,000 on the National Arena in Bucharest.

Denis Alibec (18th min.) and Cristian Săpunaru (74th min.) scored for Astra, whereas for the Austrian team scored Raphael Holzhauser (16th min. – penalty), Kevin Friesenbichler (33rd min.) and Alexander Grunwald (58th min.).

Lukas Rotpuller was sent off in the 79th minute.

Astra’s next game is against AS Roma away on September 29.
