Dinamo Bucharest ended in a draw the match on Thursday against Spanish team Athletic Bilbao, score 1-1 (0-1), on the National Arena in the capital city, in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

Defender Aymeric Laporte opened the score for Bilbao in the 21st min., following a corner kick. Rivaldinho (photo) equalized for Dinamo after 54 minutes with a spectacular shot.

After a weak first half, Dinamo showed a great change for the better in the second half both in attack and in defence, and has hopes to qualifying in the play-off of the competition.

The Bucharest team had not played in European Cups for five years because of insolvency problems.

Thursday’s match was the first official for coach Jose Angel Ziganda for Athletic, who replaced Ernesto Valverde this summer.

Athletic had played before in Romania, also on the National Arena in Bucharest, in 2012, when he lost the Europa League final to another Spanish team, Atletico Madrid (0-3).

The return will be played on August 3, on the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.

Astra Giurgiu and Ukrainian team FK Oleksandria ended 0-0, on Thursday evening, at Marin Anastasovici Stadium in Giurgiu, in the first leg of the third preliminary round of Europa League. The match had a poor technical level.

The second round will take place in Ukraine on August 3.

Attendance: 1,500.

CS Universitatea Craiova 0 AC Milan 1

CS Universitatea Craiova was defeated by AC Milan 1-0 (1-0) Thursday evening at the “Municipal” Stadium in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, in the first match of the third qualifying round in the Europa League.

The difference was made by the goal scored by free kick by the Swiss defender Ricardo Rodriguez in the 44th minute, with a shot from the right side of the rossonero attack.

The second round will take place on August 3 at the San Siro stadium in Milan.

Attendance: 20.000.
