European Games: Tennis table women’s team of Romania wins silver medals
The table tennis women’s team of Romania has won on Saturday the silver medals at the European Games in Minsk.
In the final, Romania was defeated by Germany 3-0.
The Romanian team was made up by Bernadette Szocs (photo), Elizabeta Samara and Daniela Dodean.
Samara and Dodean were defeated in the doubles match by Nina Mittelham/Xiaona Shan 3-2 (9-11, 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6), Szocs was defeated by de Ying Han 3-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-3, 11-2), and Dodean by Shan cu 3-1 (11-9, 11-9, 10-12, 11-7).
This is the second medal in table tennis in Minsk, after the silver medal won by the mix doubles team made up by Ovidiu Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs.
Romania’s medal balance sheet is 2 gold medals, 3 solver and 4 bronze.
The second edition of the European Games took place in Minsk, Belarus, during June 21-30, and featured 15 sports, with the participation of 4,022 athletes from 50 countries. For three sports the competition will equal the European Championships and the results in eight sports will count on the road to the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo.
