European Judo Open: Romanian judoka, Daniel Natea, wins gold medal in Madrid

Romanian judoka, Daniel Natea, 26, has won the gold medal at the European Judo Open in Madrid, defeating Soslan Bostanov (Russia) in the +100kg category, adevarul.ro informs.

Natea won in two minutes and 30 seconds, by ippon. In the semi-finals, Daniel Natea defeated Irinel Vasile Grigoras Chelaru, a Romanian athlete competing for Spain.

At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Daniel Natea was defeated in the last sixteen round.

Romanian heavyweight Daniel Natea, born in 1992, won the IJF World Masters gold in Guadalajara in 2016 and the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi in 2016. Natea took gold at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2016. Natea had also won the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi in 2014. He won various World Cup level medals. He won European U23 bronze in 2013 and 2014. Natea is national champion in 2015. In 2016 he claimed the victory at the European Open in Prague.
