Fed Cup: Romania vs. Canada to be played in Cluj-Napoca
Romanian Tennis Federation (FRT) Vice-president, Razvan Itu, has stated on Wednesday that the Fed Cup matches between Romania and Canada will take place in Cluj-Napoca, the surface to be played on is to be decided, as every time, with the team.
“We have the acknowledgement from the city hall in regard to the Polyvalent Hall. Details are to be set until November 14, the deadline when we have to send to the ITF the official documents,” Itu said, hotnews.ro informs.
Since April 2016, the capacity of the Polyvalent Hall has increased to 10,000 seats.
The best known Canadian players are Eugenie Bouchard, 81st WTA, Francois Abanda, 122nd WTA and the tennis player of Romanian origin Bianca Andreescu, 180th WTA.
Romania defeated Canada 3-2 in Montreal in April 2015, in the play-off for the World Group, Simona Halep being absent.
Romania is currently in World Group II, after defeating Britain 3-2 in April 2017, in Mamaia.
The matches in World Group II will take place on February 10-11, 2018.
