The Romanian Tennis Federation (FRT) has announced on Wednesday the players summoned by non-playing captain Florin Segarceanu for the Fed Cup semi-final against France this weekend.

The summoned players are Simona Halep, Mihaela Buzarnescu, Irina Begu, Monica Niculescu and Raluca Olaru.

The semi-final will be played during April 20-21 in Rouen, France.

“We are in a historic moment, the semi-final of the Fed Cup World Group and we expect to have rather good chances. It is important that all players are in good shape, with no injuries. We can hardly wait to arrive in Rouen to see the playing court and to start the training. I’ve seen the team of France, it is a valuable team, we are up to a tough match. The French are known for creating special ambiance, by putting pressure on the opponents, but I am convinced that the Romanians coming to see the games will stand by us,” Florin Segarceanu wrote on the FRF website.

France announced on Monday the team for the Fed Cup semi-final: Caroline Garcia (21st WTA in the singles), Kristina Mladenovic (63rd WTA), Alize Cornet (54th WTA) and Pauline Parmentier (53rd WTA).
