Fencing: Ana-Maria Popescu wins epee Grand Prix in Budapest

Romanian fencer Ana-Maria Popescu (Branza) has won the epee Grand Prix in Budapest on Sunday after defeating Young Mi Kang (South Korea) 15-7 in the final.

Ana-Maria Popescu, Olympic champion in Rio with the epee team of Romania, played in the first round against the Russian Maria Obraztova, winning 15-11, in the second round defeated Katharine Holmes (US) 15-12, in the last sixteen round defeated French fencer Auriane Mallo15-9, in the quarter-finals defeated another American, Kelley Hurley 14-13, in order to win in the semifinals 13-11 against South Korean Injeong Choi. Coraline Vitalis (France) was ranked third together with Choi.
