Fencing: CSA Steaua wins women’s epee European Cup in Caserta, Italy


CSA Steaua Bucharest fencing team, consisting Ana Maria Popescu (Brânză) – photo, Simona Gherman, Simona Pop and Greta Vereș has won the women’s epee European Cup on Saturday in Caserta, Italy, Agerpres informs.
CSA Steaua managed thus to win the trophy for the fourth time.
The Romanian women’s team, coached by Dan Podeanu and George Epurescu, has registered the following results: – 45-13 against Linköpings Fencing Club (Sweden) and 45-15 against AS Pro Vercelli (Italy) in the group stage; last eight: – 45-33 against Basel Fencing Club (Switzerland); in the semi-finals – 45-21 against Aeronautica Militare (Italy); in the final – 45-38 against Club Moscow (Russia).
Eleven teams from Europe have taken part to the tournament.
CSA Steaua won the European Cup in 2008, 2011 and 2012.
