Football: Cosmin Contra voted by FRF Executive Committee, takes over national coach position

Cosmin Contra is the new coach of the national football team, following the unanimous vote by the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) Executive Committee on Friday
Contra has as target the qualification to EURO 2020. In his first press conference after the official appointment, the former FC Dinamo coach told the journalists that he is aware tough times lie ahead and that he is going to keep a close eye on about 60 football players. “It’s absolutely compulsory that we qualify,” Contra said.
The contract between FRF and Cosmin Contra is in force for two years and targets the qualification to EURO 2020.
Also on Friday, the FRF Executive Committee approved the dismissal of former national team coach Christoph Daum.
