Football: CS Universitatea Craiova win Romania’s Cup

CS Universitatea Craiova won the Romanian Cup on Sunday, after a 25-year break, thanks to a 2-0 (1-0) victory in the final against FC Hermannstadt.

Brazilian Gustavo (30th min.) and Alexandru Mitriţă (58th min.) scored the goals at the 80th edition of the Romanian Cup.

For Universitatea Craiova is the seventh trophy in the Romanian Cup after 1977, 1978, 1981, 1983, 1991 and 1993.

On his way to the trophy, the Universitatea Craiova eliminated Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe (2-0), CS Afumaţi (3-2, after overtime), Dinamo (1-0) and FC Botoşani (5-1 and 1-2).

FC Hermannstadt eliminated Galda de Jos (3-1), FC Voluntari (1-0), Juventus Bucharest (2-0), FCSB (3-0), Gaz Metan Mediaş (1-0 and 3-2).

In the Romanian Super Cup, in July, in Craiova, CS Universitatea Craiova will face CFR Cluj.
