Football: National team coach announces preliminary list of players for the UEFA Nations League

The national football team coach, Cosmin Conta, announced on Sunday the preliminary list of players from foreign championships for the first two matches counting for the UEFA Nations League, against Montenegro and Serbia.

The matches are scheduled on September 7 and 10, with Montenegro at home (on Ilie Oana Stadium in Ploiesti, with closed doors) and the second match in Belgrade, on Partizan  Arena.

According to the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), the list includes:

Goalkeepers: Ciprian Tatarusanu (FC Nantes), Costel Pantilimon (Nottingham Forest), Florin Nita (Sparta Praga), Silviu Lung (Kayserispor);

Fullbacks: Cristian Sapunaru (Kayserispor), Vlad Chiriches (Napoli), Cosmin Moti (Ludogorets), Alin Tosca (Real Betis).

Midfielders: Razvan Marin (Standard Liege), Adrian Stoian (Crotone), Paul Anton (Anji), Alexandru Chipciu (Sparta Praga), Dorin Rotariu (AZ Alkmaar), Nicolae Stanciu (Sparta Praga), Eric Bicfalvi (FC Ural), Constantin Budescu (Al-Shabab), Alexandru Maxim (Mainz).

Strikers: Claudiu Keseru (Ludogorets), Alexandru Baluta (Slavia Praga).

The complete list will also include players from Liga 1.

“We are in a difficult group, acosmin contra balanced group, but we can fight against all opponents. I am optimistic, my goal remains to win the group in order to have a chance to qualify for the European Championship in 2020. I want fans to support us in this new competition. For them we will fight, for them we will try to win the group,” said Cosmin Contra, according to the official website of Romanian Football Federation (FRF).

In the UEFA Nations League, Romania is in the League C, Group 4 with Serbia, Montenegro and Lithuania.
