Hobart International: Buzărnescu through to quarter-finals, Niculescu defeats Begu

Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzărnescu has qualified on Tuesday to the quarter-finals of the WTA tournament in Hobart (Australia), with total prizes of USD 226,750, while Monica Niculescu has reached the last sixteen round.
Buzărnescu (29, 57th WTA) defeated German Anna-Lena Friedsam (23, 507th WTA, formerly 45th WTA in 2016) 7-5, 6-4.
Mihaela Buzărnescu secured a cheque of USD 6,175 and 60 WTA points, and in the third round she will face the winner between Alison Riske (US) and Kirsten Flipkens (Belgium).
Monica Niculescu (30, 85th WTA) came from the qualifiers and defeated 6-3, 6-2 her compatriot Irina Begu (27, 40th WTA), the sixth seeded.
Niculescu secured a cheque of USD 3,400 and 48 WTA points, and in the next round she will face Varvara Lepchenko (US).
