Indian Wells: Halep defeated by Serena Williams in the quarter-final

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep was defeated by Serena Williams 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday in the quarter-final of the USD 6,134,605 BNP Parisbas Open tournament in Indian Wells.

It took Williams only 69 minutes to defeat defending champion Halep.

Cheering Halep on in the attendance were legend of gymnastics Nadia Comaneci and pop singer Smiley.

For her performance, Halep won USD 128,215 and 215 WTA points. Williams will face in the semi-finals against Polish Agnieszka Radwanska (3rd seeded), who defeated Czech player Petra Kvitova, 6-2, 7-6 (3).
