Judo: Daniel Natea, wins gold medal of European Open in Bucharest
Romanian judoka Daniel Natea won on Sunday the gold medal in the +100kg category of the European Open in Bucharest after defeating Azeri fighter Ushangi Kokauri in the final by ippon.
In the—90kg category, Cristian Bodirlau took bronze after defeating Italian Lorenzo Rigano in the match for third place by ippon.
In the first rounds, Natea defeated through ippon Spaniard Angel Parra, Ukrainian Andrii Kolesnyk and Frenchman Jean-Sebastien Bonvoisin, Agerpres informs.
Romania gained two gold medals (Daniel Natea and Monica Ungureanu, the latter in the 48kg category) and one bronze through Cristian Bodirlau, taking third place in the medal charts after France 4-2-3 and Ukraine 2-1-3.
376 judoka from 29 countries, 244 males and 132 females have competed at the European Open in Bucharest.
