Judo, Tyumen Grand Slam: Corina Caprioriu takes silver medal

Romanian judoka Corina Caprioriu has won the silver medal at the Grand Slam tournament in Tyumen, Russia, after being defeated in the final by Japan’s Tsukasa Yoshida in the 57-kg final by yuko.
London Olympics vice champion Caprioriu had defeated Batzul Altai of Mongolia in the round of 16, overcame Italy’s Giulia Quintavalle in the quarterfinals and beat Sanne Verhagen of the Netherlands in the semifinals. In 48 kg event, Romanian Monica Ungureanu missed the bronze medal to Russian Irina Dolgova, while Andreea Chitu came in 7th in the 52 kg category. Romania still has three athletes in the competition, all in men’s events – Cristian Bodirlau (81 kg), Daniel Natea and Vladut Simionescu (+100 kg).
